The ASI Spelmanslag presents a program of Traditional Swedish Music with guest musician Ross Sutter
The American Swedish Institute Spelmanslag, founded 30 years ago by Paul Dahlin, consists of approximately 30 members who play fiddle, bass, cittra, and guitar. The lag’s music is mainly from the eastern part of the province of Dalarna, in Sweden, and was originally brought to the Twin Cities in 1924 by Ivares Edwin Johnson, Paul’s grandfather.
As a 100% Swedish-American, Ross is inspired by his Scandinavian heritage, performing songs learned from his grandmother as well as from his own travels and studies.
